Middle School Teacher Pages

Parents and Students,

I am bursting at the seams with excitement and promise for this upcoming school year here at Blanco Middle School. Even though I have only been here a short time, I have already witnessed the tradition, unity, loyalty and the values of the Blanco community and our school district.

Our theme for the 2016-2017 school year is “New Chapter – Next Level.”  We are all beginning a new chapter here at Blanco Middle School: new school year, new principal, new sixth graders as well as a new administration at the district level.  We all have the chance for a fresh start and to excel and reach the next level.

Our Blanco Middle School students have many reasons to be proud for successes during 2015-2016.  For the twelfth straight year, the BMS Panthers placed 1st in District for UIL overall and 1st in One Act Play.  For the first time in 5 years, our 7th & 8th grade band earned straight ones, a superior rating, at the UIL Concert Contest, and our 6th grade band received the same superior rating in UIL at Pirate Land. In addition, the middle school band (first time to enter this competition) ranked first in the region in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series for their concert march and advanced to area and placed 3rd missing state by 1 place. Our Panthers participated in the first ever CATCH (Coordinating Approach to Child’s Health) Community Service Day that included decorating for Christmas at the courthouse and in Bindseil Park, making Christmas decorations on campus and delivering them to area nursing homes, planting a new garden, reorganizing and thoroughly cleaning the weight room and repainting the lines on the basketball court to mention just a few of the projects. In addition there were some important initiatives that BMS focused upon. We implemented a writing initiative and 7th grade assessment scores improved from 69% to 84%. Another completed initiative included a three year plan of outfitting 3 hydration stations throughout the school. Last and certainly not least, our 8th grade football and volleyball teams were undefeated this year. It was a fantastic school year and we are looking forward to turning the page of this new chapter and taking it to the next level!

Go Panthers!
