Parents, Students & Community,

For the second year, I am bursting at the seam with excitement and promise for this upcoming school year at Blanco Middle School. Even though I have only been here a short time, I have already experienced the tradition, unity, loyalty and the values of the Blanco community and our school district.

Our theme for the 2017-2018 school year is “Perseverance, Power, Passion – Panthers!” Last school year, I had the privilege of witnessing our students and staff not only persevere through several challenges, but powerfully attack them with passion and be stronger than ever!  This also holds true for our parents and our entire surrounding community.  Blanco has truly inspired me!

Our Blanco Middle School students have accomplished much during the 2016-2017.  The BMS Panthers for the thirteenth straight year placed 1st in District for UIL Academic Competition overall. Our One Act Play crew faced fierce competition but still placed second.  Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade UIL music memory teams all placed 1st at the regional meet and a total of 22 of our 6th – 8th grade students placed at the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-Region Band (more students than any other 3A campuses and more than most 4A schools). In addition, our 7th and 8th grade band received the Sweepstakes Award at the UIL Concert and Sight reading Contest (first time in Blanco history), and for the second year in a row, ranked first in the region in the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series for their concert march and placed 2nd in area and 9thoverall in state. Our Panthers participated for the second consecutive year in our CATCH (Coordinating Approach to Child’s Health) Community Service Day where we planted a new garden, reorganized and thoroughly cleaned the weight room and repainted the lines on the basketball court to mention just a few of their projects. Lastly, our 7th grade boys tennis won the district title this year, both our 7th and 8th grade football teams placed 2nd and tennis placed second in district. We are looking forward to an even better 2017-2018!

Sincerely,

Kathryn Korelich
